New Kids’ Safety Tracker Available at 2010 Iowa State Fair
Posted 11 August 2010
New to this year’s Fair, parents can rent or purchase small GPS tracking devices to help keep tabs on their children during busy Fair days. The 2010 Iowa State Fair offers a safe environment for ”Non Stop Fun” August 12-22.

The Fair will offer SecuraPAL (Personal Automated Locaters) to Fair-going parents with young children. SecuraPAL is a small, lightweight locator that can easily attach to a child’s belt or slip into a pocket. The device features a GPS tracker and SOS button that a child can use to contact his or her parents. In case of an emergency, GPS coordinates for each device will be available through a secure website that can be accessed from the parents’ smart phone or in the Service Center or Public Safety Headquarters located at the west end of the Grand Concourse.

The trackers are available at The Des Moines Register Service Center every Fair day from
9 a.m. to 8 p.m. These devices may be rented for $9.99 per day. A limited number of trackers will also be available for purchase starting at $129.99.

In addition to this new service, the Fair will continue to offer emergency paging for lost children. Parents can also obtain “KidFind” wristbands from STAR 102.5 at their booth located on the west end of the Grandstand.

While the Fair is a fun and safe environment for Fairgoers of all ages, these safety services offer parents additional ways to keep family members together so everyone can enjoy “Non Stop Fun.”

The Iowa State Fair is set for “Non Stop Fun” August 12-22, 2010. For more information, call 800/545-FAIR or visit iowastatefair.org.
